ThermaDown is a high quality goose-down that PROJECT currently uses in our ARCTIC winter jacket.

WHAT IS THERMADOWN?
Down is the fluffy under layer on waterfowl such as ducks and geese. Unlike feathers which are flat, down is three dimensional so it is able to ‘knit’ together with other clusters to fill pockets of space. Birds raised in cooler climates will produce thicker down, and since down gives approximately 3 times the warmth per ounce than synthetic fabric- it is a very comfortable and warm alternative. Since down is virtually ineffective if it gets wet, ThermaDown was one of the options developed to treat the down with a waterproof wash including Celliant.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
PROJECT use the highest fill power of 900 in their ARCTIC jacket. A higher fill power means less room for cold air to circulate therefore increasing warmth. ThermaDown has the added benefit of being washed with infrared technology fibre Celliant, which reflects body heat produced and cycles it back to the body, meaning increased blood circulation and lower energy expenditure to maintain body temperature. MANUFACTURER, RETAILER AND CONSUMER INTEGRITY.
Being a by-product of an animal, it is important for transparency in the manufacturing process of the down. Most down comes from Asian countries, for the sole reason that down is a by-product of the meat industry, and Asian countries have a significantly higher consumption rate of duck and goose meat than other countries who consume more beef. Our down supplier has developed a unique consumer initiative to give customers transparency and education on the sourcing and processing of their down. ‘Track My Down’ generates a number that is unique to each batch of down, with this number available to the customer on swing tags attached to each garment. Using this number at Track My Down, the customer is able to source information on the fill in their particular jacket from where it was sourced, if it is mixed down and a variety of interesting information. Find your unique lot number on your ARCTIC jacket swing tag!
