Podcast: VIS Head Coach Women’s Hockey – Stacia Joseph

Project Clothing recently visited the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Parkville to chat exclusively with Stacia Joseph – Victorian Institute of Sport Head Coach Women’s Hockey. Project Clothing is the official apparel supplier to the VIS Women’s Hockey Program and was recently granted full access to the inner sanctum at training. 2

The girls are currently preparing for the Australian National League in Perth and have been running through their paces at the SNHC and in the VIS gym over the last few months.

Head Coach, Stacia Joseph, was originally involved with the VIS as a hockey player (scholarship holder) for 12 years but moved into coaching after a 2 year lay-off. Listen to what Stacia has to say about the VIS Hockey Program and their relationship with Project Clothing.

Team GS 2016 British Beach Volleyball National Champions

Project Clothing’s very own Team GS (Chris Gregory and Jake Sheaf) secured their second British National Beach Volleyball Championship last week at Margate, UK.

The pair compete on the CEV European Tour and the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour and won the National Title comfortably for the second time, previously winning in 2014. With a busy international schedule Chris and Jake were unable to compete in the National Championships in 2015 but came back with a great result this year.

Since 2015, Project Clothing have supported Team GS and closely followed their run into the Rio Olympics. Qualification wasn’t to be but after a successful end to the 2016 season Chris and Jake are looking forward to another great season of beach volleyball, but not before enjoying a well earned break. Apart from more National Champs and Tour wins the guys are focussing on Tokyo in 2020 as their next long term goal.

Good luck fellas!

Rio Olympic Games Review (Project Ambassadors)

Rio de Janeiro really turned it on for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad – the 2016 Olympic Games. With more than 11,000 athletes from 207 countries the USA dominated the two week event to finish in first place on the medal table. Australia came in 10th position with 8 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze medals.

Project Clothing had 2 brand Ambassadors competing at Rio, both in the Triathlon event; Gwen JORGENSEN (USA) and Ryan BAILIE (AUS).

Gwen with Rio gold medal

Gwen JORGENSEN (Project Compression Ambassador) won the Gold Medal ahead of a world class women’s field. Gwen was in the lead group throughout the swim and bike legs but it was during the run leg (10km) where her pro running background came to the fore. Gwen forged ahead to win comfortably in the end from 2012 Olympic champion Nicola Spirig of Switzerland. A wonderful effort Gwen!

Brand Ambassador Ryan BAILIE followed his top 10 finish in this years ITU World Championship Series to come home 10th. A mighty effort given the quality of the field headed by British brothers Alistair and Jonathon Brownlee (Gold and Silver medal).

Project are also the official apparel supplier to Triathlon Canada who had 5 athletes competing. In the men’s event Tyler Mislawchuk finished an impressive 15th while Andrew Yorke was 42nd. Amelie Kretz (34th), Kirsten Sweetland (41st) and Sarah-Anne Brault (42nd) represented their country proudly in the women’s race.

Ambassador Ryan Bailie is off to the Rio Olympics!

PROJECT Ambassador Ryan Bailie finished 4th in the Gold Coast WTS over the weekend which landed him a spot in the Australian team at the Olympics coming up this year in Rio! Ryan has been training hard and edging closer and closer to qualifying but his 4th place finish on the weekend sealed his spot in the Olympic team. To top off a great weekend, Ryan also won two awards at the Triathlon Australia awards on Sunday. We are proud to have such a talented and dedicated Ambassador in Ryan and look forward to the preparation and race day in Rio!
